A floor shot blasting machine removes laitance, old coatings and surface deposits from concrete and asphalt. High-speed steel shot strikes the pavement and creates a rough surface profile for waterproofing, coating and road maintenance.
Contractors use this equipment on bridge decks, industrial floors, municipal roads and airport runways. YG offers three models for different treatment areas, from localized concrete preparation to wider pavement cleaning.

Floor Shot Blasting Machine Working Principle
A main motor drives the blast wheel. The wheel accelerates steel shot and throws it onto the pavement at high speed. Each impact removes loose material, laitance and surface deposits while creating a textured profile.
The machine then recovers used shot and debris through an enclosed collection system. A separator removes debris from reusable steel shot and returns usable media to the blast wheel. This recycling process limits shot loss and reduces the need for frequent replenishment.
A connected dust collector draws fine particles from the recovery stream. Its filter cores capture dust, while an automatic pulse system cleans the filters during operation. The enclosed design controls shot scatter and dust spread around the work area. Our closed-loop recovery system keeps steel shot consumption as low as 10 g/m², cutting your ongoing consumable costs on large projects.
Contractors can use this figure as a starting point for estimating consumable needs. Actual usage depends on the surface and treatment intensity.
Main Applications of a Road Shot Blasting Machine

Concrete Bridge Decks and Waterproofing
Concrete bridge decks often contain cement laitance, loose particles and old coating residues. These contaminants interfere with waterproofing adhesion. Shot blasting removes weak surface material and creates a profile for membrane application.
Concrete floor shot blasting also prepares industrial concrete floors before resin coatings and protective treatments.
Before treating an entire deck, run a short test pass. Examine the surface for remaining laitance and untreated strips. Remove dust before applying waterproofing material. Where project specifications call for an ICRI Concrete Surface Profile (CSP) reference, use an appropriate comparator to assess the prepared texture. The project documents and waterproofing system define the required profile.
Asphalt Roads and Pavement Maintenance
Traffic leaves rubber, loose particles and other deposits on asphalt. A pavement shot blasting machine treats selected areas through steel shot impact. The process removes some contaminants and roughens the surface.
Road contractors use shot blasting to prepare pavement before repair, resurfacing or selected marking work. Treatment also helps remove surface deposits that affect friction.
Old markings require attention to material and thickness. Thin paint may respond differently from thick thermoplastic lines. Heavy markings can need repeated passes or another removal method.
Airport Runway Rubber Removal
Aircraft tires leave rubber deposits on runway pavement, especially in touchdown zones. Shot blasting can remove some deposits from selected areas and restore surface texture.
Runway work requires attention to pavement friction, operating restrictions and airport maintenance procedures. Contractors must follow project requirements and assess the treated surface. Shot blasting does not replace runway friction testing.
Selecting a Mobile Shot Blaster for Site Conditions
- YG-270: Suits localized preparation, bridge deck edges and small concrete areas.
- YG-550: Suits medium-sized bridge decks, road sections and industrial floors.
- YG-850: Suits larger, open treatment areas where wider coverage reduces the number of passes.
Working width affects coverage, but it does not determine productivity alone. Site access, turning space, surface condition and required profile also shape the work plan. A compact unit may suit a restricted bridge section better than a wider machine.
Practical Details for Consistent Surface Preparation
Match Steel Shot to the Required Profile
Steel shot size affects impact and surface texture. Concrete strength, coating thickness and blast wheel condition also influence the result. Use the project’s specified surface profile as the target rather than relying on shot size alone.
Avoid Uneven Passes
Gaps between passes can leave untreated strips. Start with a short section and inspect the result before continuing. Keep the travel path consistent, especially when preparing concrete for waterproofing.
Maintain Shot Recovery and Dust Collection
Debris buildup can obstruct shot recovery and reduce the amount of reusable media. Clean the recovery passage and remove broken shot during routine maintenance.
Dust collector filters also need attention. Automatic pulse cleaning supports filter maintenance, but crews must remove collected dust and inspect pipe connections. The collector reduces dust spread; site teams still need to follow project dust control and worker protection requirements.
Request a Quote for a Floor Shot Blasting Machine

YG supplies shot blasting equipment for concrete preparation, bridge deck waterproofing, asphalt maintenance and selected runway treatment. Share the surface material, treatment area and required profile when requesting a quotation. These details help identify a suitable model and estimate steel shot requirements.
For road construction projects, related equipment includes road marking machines, electric mini loaders and small skid loaders for pavement marking, material handling and site support.
FAQ
How much does a Floor Shot Blasting Machine cost?
Price depends on model, equipment specification and delivery destination. YG-270, YG-550 and YG-850 differ in working width, motor power, weight and dust collector size. Request a quotation with the required model and project location.
How long does shot blasting take?
Treatment time depends on the area, surface condition and required profile. The listed cleaning rates cover steel plate, so contractors need a pavement-specific estimate. A short site test gives a more useful production figure.
Does shot blasting remove old coatings and rubber?
Steel shot impact removes some coatings and rubber deposits. Material type, thickness and adhesion affect the result. Heavy deposits can require repeated treatment or another suitable method.
What is the difference between shot blasting and grinding?
Shot blasting propels steel shot onto the surface to remove deposits and create texture. Grinding uses abrasive tools to remove material or adjust flatness. Contractors choose the method according to the required surface finish.
