A dust control cannon sprays fine water droplets into dusty air to capture airborne particles before they spread across a worksite. Mines, quarries, construction sites, gravel yards, and industrial plants use fog cannons around crushers, stockpiles, loading points, and material transfer areas.
YG offers four electric models with spray distances from 20 to 60 meters. The right choice comes down to more than spray distance. Water supply, electrical capacity, dust output, and the area that needs coverage all matter.

Dust Control Cannon Working Principle

A water pump sends water to the nozzle assembly, where the nozzles break it into fine droplets. A powerful fan then carries the mist toward the dust source. When droplets meet airborne particles, they capture them and bring them down.
Here is the practical point: aim the mist at the place where dust escapes, not simply into open air. On a quarry line, that could mean the crusher discharge, a conveyor transfer point, or a truck loading area. Wind direction and nozzle condition also affect how far the mist travels.
Differences Between YG Fog Cannon Models
The YG-20 and YG-30 suit smaller work areas, with rated spray distances of 20 and 30 meters. Their water consumption rates are 1,000 and 1,500 L/h.
The YG-40 reaches 40 meters and uses 16 nozzles, with water consumption of 3,000 L/h. For larger areas, the YG-60 reaches 60 meters and uses 22 nozzles, with water consumption of 7,500 L/h.
Many quarry customers focus on the YG-60 when they need to cover large stockpile areas. Still, a longer spray distance does not automatically mean lower dust levels everywhere. The installation point and direction of the mist matter just as much.
Industrial Dust Control Applications

- Mines and quarries: Use a dust control cannon for mines and quarries to suppress dust around crushers, conveyor lines, stockpiles, and loading points.
- Construction sites: Apply a construction site dust suppression cannon during demolition, earthmoving, and bulk material handling.
- Gravel yards: Direct an industrial fog cannon toward aggregate piles and truck loading zones, where dust often rises during dry weather.
- Cement plants: Use a cement plant dust suppression cannon around outdoor material storage and transfer areas.
- Waste treatment facilities: Apply a fog cannon machine for dust control around sorting, unloading, and material movement areas.
Fog cannons work alongside other controls, such as enclosed conveyors and local dust extraction. They are not a replacement for every source-control measure.
How to Select the Right Fog Cannon Spray Range
- Spray distance: Match the rated range to the work area. Buildings, stockpiles, and crosswinds can affect mist coverage.
- Water supply: Check the required flow rate before installation. The YG-60 uses up to 7,500 L/h, so the site needs a suitable water source.
- Electrical supply: All four models use 380 V, 50 Hz, three-phase power. Check the available supply and motor load.
- Installation space: Allow room for horizontal rotation and vertical adjustment. Keep the spray path clear of obstacles.
For quarry projects, also consider how dust output changes during crushing and loading. A cannon positioned near the main dust source often makes more practical sense than one placed wherever space happens to be available.
FAQ
Can a fog cannon work with recycled wastewater?
It may work with recycled water when the water quality and filtration system suit the nozzle assembly. Suspended solids can clog nozzles and affect the spray pattern. Share details about the water source before selecting the filtration arrangement.
Can it run continuously for 24 hours at a high-dust quarry?
Continuous operation requires suitable water supply, electrical capacity, and a maintenance plan. For a 24-hour quarry shift, discuss the duty cycle, cleaning intervals, and service requirements for the selected model before ordering.
Do you offer explosion-proof versions for coal mines?
YG offers customized explosion-proof fog cannons for projects with specific site requirements. Share the mine classification and applicable safety standards so the team can discuss the required design and documentation.
How much water does a fog cannon consume?
Consumption ranges from 1,000 L/h for the YG-20 to 7,500 L/h for the YG-60. Check the specification table against the site’s available water supply before installation.
