The YG-152 Excavator Rock Drill and Splitter is a rock processing attachment installed on a 40T excavator. It integrates hydraulic drilling and static hydraulic splitting functions into one system. The equipment first drills holes in the rock and then uses the splitting unit to apply static pressure inside the holes, separating the rock along the planned direction. It suits hard rock working conditions such as mountain roads, quarries, and foundation excavation.
In May 2026, a road construction company in Guatemala purchased the YG-152 for a mountain road expansion project. The site already had a 40T excavator, and the contractor needed an attachment that could complete both rock drilling and splitting work with the existing machine.
The project used a CAT 336 excavator to remove hard limestone from the road expansion area. Since the construction area was close to the planned road line, the team needed to control the rock separation direction and reduce the need for additional equipment on site.

Guatemala Mountain Road Rock Excavation Process
Before operation, the contractor checked the excavator hydraulic system and working conditions with YG Machinery. The CAT 336 excavator provided the hydraulic power required for the YG-152 attachment.
The construction team arranged drilling points according to the rock structure and excavation line. The average hole spacing was 30–40 cm, and the drilling depth was around 1.5–2 m for each working section.
During the test stage, the operator adjusted the hole layout according to different limestone conditions. For harder rock sections, the team reduced the hole spacing to improve the splitting effect and maintain the planned separation direction.
YG-152 Drilling and Splitting Operation

The drill and splitter completed the rock removal process with one excavator. The drilling unit created holes along the planned splitting line, and the splitting unit entered the prepared holes after drilling.
The hydraulic cylinder then applied static pressure inside the rock. The pressure expanded cracks along the drilling direction and separated the rock without using blasting.
After each splitting cycle, the operator moved the attachment to the next working position. The integrated structure reduced the movement of separate drilling and splitting equipment at the mountain road site.
During daily operation, the project team processed around 15–20 meters of rock section per working day. The actual working output depended on rock hardness, drilling layout, and site conditions.
Hydraulic System Matching of the Excavator-Mounted Rock Drill and Splitter

The integrated drilling and splitting system uses the excavator hydraulic system as the power source. The YG-152 requires a minimum hydraulic flow of 240 L/min and a maximum hydraulic pressure of 35 MPa.
The contractor selected the equipment according to the excavator model, rock depth, and working distance. The YG-152 provides a maximum splitting depth of 7025 mm and a maximum splitting distance of 10875 mm, which matched the working requirements of this Guatemala road project.
The excavator-mounted rock drill and splitter allows the operator to complete drilling and splitting with one machine. This reduces equipment transfer between different operations and simplifies site management.
Customer Feedback from Guatemala Project
After installation and field testing, the customer confirmed that the equipment matched the CAT 336 excavator and met the requirements of the mountain road project.
The customer feedback said:
“The machine works well with our excavator after the initial adjustment. We changed the drilling spacing according to the limestone condition, and the combined drilling and splitting process reduced the need for extra equipment on site.”
During the first operation stage, YG Machinery provided guidance on drilling position adjustment and splitting sequence. After several days of operation, the local team became familiar with the working method and continued using the equipment for rock excavation.
